APHA Board Election 2020
We are delighted to introduce our two newly appointed APHA Board Members, Rory Martin and Talina Edwards!
Rory Martin
With over ten years industry experience in Europe, Asia, North America and Australia, Rory leads the the delivery of Frasers Property Australia sustainability goals, as well as the Climate Risk and Resilience operations for Frasers Property globally. This work has included overseeing the piloting of Frasers Property Australia’s ‘Point Cook Passive House’, which is seeking to become the first certified Passive House delivered in the Australian volume build residential market.
Rory also holds both a Bachelor of Architecture with Honours, and a Masters of Science in Environmental Design with Distinction, as well as being a registered Architect. He participates on multiple industry panels, speaks regularly at local and international conferences, guest presents at universities and has been recognised through award wins and nominations for his work in both design and sustainability.
Talina Edwards
Talina Edwards is an emerging leader, known for her passion for sustainable architectural projects within her practice and being a powerful advocate for building a better future. Talina has made meaningful contributions to sustainability with innovative Passive House projects, and by regularly sharing insights and promoting the benefits of sustainable design.
Talina is a Certified Passive House Designer, which is rigorous training to an international standard to deliver the healthiest, highest-performing and lowest-energy buildings in the world. The Passive House standard is heavily based in building-physics for proven performance. Talina embraces this scientific, rational and practical side of architecture, as well as the more creative and intuitive path to design. She employs a holistic and collaborative approach that is responsive to the whole picture, whilst including careful consideration of all the small, important details. She is very interested in how the principles of biophilic design can be applied to architectural projects to improve our wellbeing by connecting to nature. Talina is committed to the ideology of the ‘Living Future Institute’ which aims to redirect our future towards a society that is socially just, culturally rich and ecologically restorative.
Talina gained her Bachelor of Architecture (Honours) and Bachelor of Planning and Design degrees at the University of Melbourne, and is registered with the Architects’ Registration board of Victoria.
Alongside her new role on the APHA Board of Directors, is a leader of the Australian Architects Declare movement, and is on the ArchiTeam Advocacy committee. She is also co-curator of the Ballarat Architects Network and Regional Practice Forums.

Andy Marlow and Johanna Trickett did not stand for re-election. Our Chairperson, Chris Nunn, thanked them for their service to the Australian Passive House Association.
