2023 Annual Report

Our vision is that all Australians live and work in healthy, comfortable, low-energy, resilient buildings.

The Australian Passivhaus Association is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that aims to lead change by educating, promoting, and supporting the delivery of Certified Passivhaus buildings in Australia.

Passivhaus was originally developed in Germany and has since spread throughout Europe. The standard continues to evolve and is now finding popularity in diverse climatic regions including California, Japan and Indonesia. To date 60,000 houses, schools, offices, and other building types have been built to the Passive House standard around the world.

Passive House is rapidly gaining momentum in Australia. APA aims to make Passive House the benchmark for comfort in all our buildings. Learn more about what we’re doing in Scaling Impact, our 3-year strategic plan.

"A rising tide lifts all boats".

We bring our members together to share knowledge, experience and resources to advocate, design and build a brighter, healthier future using the passivhaus standard.

Our Services

  • Membership

Our members range from a home owner, to a builder, financier, designer, consultant and further. They are aligned in their vision to bring healthy, net zero buildings to Australia. We support them with a range of services and they can contribute to a brighter future by contributing in our programs.

  • Advocacy

Our team advocate for the growth of the Passivhaus Standard in Australia through various collaborations, client and market education and working directly with Government around Australia. In our ten years of existence we have been instrumental to the adoption of the standard in Australia.

  • Training & Education

We offer consultants and builders an opportunity to future-proof their careers and expand their services. Our training is designed for these professionals to deliver passivhaus projects to their client base.

  • Promotion

A critical part of our advocacy is the fierce promotion of passivhaus benefits, projects and professionals. This promotion has been instrumental to the increased awareness of passivhaus in Australia. Our Project Register is a critical tool for the industry to track and learn about passivhaus projects.
