North Wright Compact Housing Project, Including Passivhaus, moves into Second Stage

In June, the Suburban Land Agency (SLA) called for Expressions of Interest to deliver the second stage of this innovative showcase housing project. Australian Passivhaus Association were pleased to see that this included Passivhaus Townhouses.

Members of the ACT Government's team delivering this project were participants on the Inaugural Passivhaus Incubator.

The North Wright Compact Housing Project, comprising the delivery of 43 compact house and land packages, aims to showcase the benefits of innovative and sustainable housing development. This includes delivering compact, ‘missing-middle’ dwellings, featuring a series of design typologies at varying price points which will showcase levels of sustainability performance currently not offered in the market. The current second stage comprises the Design and Construction of 20 dwellings and associated landscaping.

SLA looked for potential delivery partners within industry who shared in its goals with regard to delivering on innovative and affordable housing outcomes though integrated dwelling and urban realm design, environmentally sustainable practices and modern methods of construction, to deliver Stage 2 of the Project. Over six weeks, SLA invited responses from competent and multi-disciplinary teams of designers, expert consultants, prefabrication suppliers and pre-qualified builders with demonstrated experience in low-carbon, energy-efficient housing, Passivhaus and modern methods of construction (prefabrication).

We look forward to hearing more about the project as it progresses.
