Passive House Profile: The Sunlight House

The Sunlight House, Cape Paterson

Registered Building Practitioner and Certified Passive House Tradesperson, Wade Bashaw Director of North South Homes has excitingly won the 'Best Sustainable Home' at the 2020 MasterBuilder's Awards. Learn more about the project known as 'The Sunlight House' here.

The sustainable design began by taking into consideration the geographical orientation of the block and local weather patterns to maximise the north-facing aspect of the compact allotment. From here, the final result included features such as the living room and bedrooms receiving warm winter sun and gable ceilings in the living room that give a sense of space and openness connecting to the exterior deck. Blackbutt flooring has been used as it is a preferred sustainable choice for its durability, strength and quick regenerative qualities. Bathroom, kitchen and laundry tapware were carefully selected for their WELS rating adding to the overall sustainable building techniques.
