Description
The client brief was for a single storey home, made of modest materials, that sits well in its environment. They want lots of natural light and a focus on passive heating and cooling. They of course, want to make the most of the wonderful surrounding Blue Mountains bushland with views from as many rooms as possible.
The home didn’t need to be huge, but they do want it to feel open with space to spread out, an open plan kitchen, dining and living space, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a study space and perhaps a second living space.
As a family, they spend a lot of time at home and enjoy just hanging out, so the home needs to be a sanctuary that allows them to unwind. The goal is for a home that feels like a haven, sits nicely with the surrounds, and feels functional and strong, like it’s going to be there for a long time.
After attending the Blue Eco Homes launch of the Sapphire Passive House in 2019, these clients were convinced that Passive House was the answer to their needs and would meet all aspects of their brief.
